{Pear Sauce Recipe}

  Pear Recipe #2 -  { Pear Sauce }
My kids love homemade applesauce. So when deciding what to do with my BIG box of pears I knew I needed to try making pear sauce.  It came out so yummy and the best part is it is sweetened with a little bit of honey.

Pear Sauce

20 Pears, Ripe, slightly soft
¼ c. Water
2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
2 TBS. Local Raw Honey (optional)
Lemon Juice from 1 whole lemon

Peel, core, and quarter 10 pears and put in a large pot. Pour half of the lemon juice over them and stir. Repeat with the second set of 10 pears. This will help the pears from turning brown.

Once pears are covered in lemon juice add water, honey and ground cinnamon. Stir until evenly coated.  Bring mixture to a boil then turn down heat to bring to a simmer. Let simmer 20-25 minutes or until pears are really soft. Use an emulsion blender to process pears until smooth.

You can use a blender or food processor but make sure your pears have cooled off.
WARNING: If you blend hot pears or liquid in your blender your food can explode out of the top and cause SEVERE burns.

Makes about 2 quarts.

Serve warm or cold.  My children prefer it warm.
